Curriculum Vitae

Prof. Karin Širec, Ph.D., was born on 17 June, 1972 in Maribor. In 1995 she graduated from the Faculty of Economics and Business in Maribor and in 1999 she completed her master’s studies. After finishing her undergraduate studies, she worked as a junior consultant at the Finea Consulting, d.o.o. company. Since 1996 she has been employed at the Faculty of Economics and Business, first as the research and teaching assistant; now she holds the post of an assistant professor of business economics and entrepreneurship. As a member of the research team within the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management she takes part in two longitudinal research projects in the field of entrepreneurship; namely, the Slovenian Entrepreneurship Observatory and the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor. At the same time, she is represents Slovenia in the international team for the research in female entrepreneurship DIANA. She has participated at a number of national and international professional and scientific conferences. She is the author of 6 scientific and 5 professional papers dealing with the research in business economics, entrepreneurship, resource based theory, entrepreneurship theories and knowledge-based theories of the firm.
