Slovenian Entrepreneurship Observatory was established in 1998 following the example of Observatory of European SMEs. With the Slovenian Entrepreneurship Observatory the Institute each year present a review of slovenian SME demographics and in-depth research of current topics in the field of entrepreneurship. These results serve as the basis for proposals to provide government policy measures in different areas.

The research is financed through various fundamental and target research projects and research programme the Enterprise for an innovative society. Among the funders of our research are the Ministry of Economy , Public Agency for the research activity , the company SmartCom, the Slovenian Chamber of Crafts, and the Faculty of Economic and Business.

Dynamics of Slovenian Entrepreneurship

Slovenian entrepreneurship observatory 2008

In this book, published as part of the series Slovenian Entrepreneurship Observatory, eleven authors discuss important elements of the entrepreneurship dynamism. Their contributions, based on up-to-date empirical investigations of selected phenomena, aim to paint a omprehensive picture of specific areas in the current entrepreneurship scene in Slovenia. Entrepreneurship has many faces; not all can be discussed in such book. Therefore, we have selected those based on empirical research or statistical data, focusing on four levels of entrepreneurship: (i) national economy, (ii) industry, (iii) company, and (iv) entrepreneur. The level of national economy is surveyed in chapters written by Dijana Močnik, Matej Rus, Rok Podgornik, Polona Tominc, and Miroslav Rebernik. Meanwhile, Ksenja Pušnik and Maks Tajnikar investigated Slovenia’s tourist industry. Mojca Duh shed light on family businesses, while Barbara Bradač examined outsourcing activities in Slovenian companies. The book concludes with a chapter written by Karin Širec and Katja Crnogaj on networking among Slovenian male and female entrepreneurs.
